Reflection on BusinessQldGov Webinar: Business Continuity Planning

I watched a webinar on business continuity planning conducted by Yvette Adams for BusinessQld Gov .A business continuity plan is a management process that identifies potential threats and impacts within an organisation, providing a framework for building resilience and the capability for efficiently respond when disaster occurs. She defined Resilience as the ability to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impacts of disaster. It’s a dynamic quality which is developed and strengthened with time. From the webinar I gathered that the BCP typically contains risk analysis, business impact analysis, incidence response plan, immediate response checklist, evacuation procedures, roles and responsibility, event log, recovery plan, incident recovery checklist, rehearse maintain and review schedule. BCP processes include prevention(risk management planning including prioritizing risk and decide on course of action), response(response planning) and recovery(recovery planning). After developing the BCP, staff should be trained and informed about the plan. I Learnt the importance of developing a BCP and was exposed to the process of creating and maintaining one.
